LouAnn Murry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lou Ann Murry, age 86, resident of Grove, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at her home. Lou Ann was born on January 30, 1936 in Tollison, Arizona to Fred and Molly (McClain) Berry, one of 10 children. When she was 6 years old her family moved to Grove and bought a farm on Honey Creek where she grew up. Lou Ann graduated from Grove High School. In 1965 Lou Ann married Neil Murry, Jr. in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Kansas City, Missouri where he owned Western Container Manufacturing, and she became his executive assistant. Sadly, her husband passed away in 1999. She moved back to the Grove area in 2004. Lou Ann was exceptionally proud of her Cherokee heritage. Her great grandmother survived the Trail of Tears. She was a beautiful, classy lady who was always found a way to be the life of the party, bringing enjoyment wherever she went. She was very social and outgoing and loved to dance and laugh. She was a genuine, caring friend that had a heart of gold. She was a member of the Grove VFW Auxiliary, as well as the Moose and Elks Lodges and the Pontoon Girls Club. In quiet times, she enjoyed reading and gardening. Her bubbly, firecracker-like nature will be greatly missed by family and friends. Lou Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Molly Berry, siblings: Everett Berry, Clara Stearns, Dean Berry, Betty Durham, Gene Berry, James Berry, Bonnie Boethin, Bill Berry daughter Kimberly Turner and stepson Neil Murry. Left to cherish her memory, children Fred Murry (Joanie) of Tucson, Arizona, Frank Murry (Wendy) of Kansas City, Kansas, Cindy Ammon of Overland Park, Kansas, Tammy Murry of Belton, Missouri, Kristina Elgin (Jimmy) of Grove, Eric Murry of Grove; grandchildren: Evan, Travis, Samantha, Alex, Ashley, Garrett, Aaron, Ryan, Timothy and Neilson; and brother Bob Berry of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and many loving nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral Services will be at 12pm noon, Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Chapel followed by burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
