LeRoy E. Howard Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

LeRoy Earl Howard, Sr. age 75 of Wyandotte, Oklahoma was born July 14, 1945 in Claremore, Oklahoma to John D. Howard and Geraldine (Bearskin) Howard. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1965 where he served in the Viet Nam War. He married Sharon (Dinwiddie) on November 26, 1965. LeRoy was a proud member of the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma and served as the business administrator for 13 years and Chief for 9 years. He passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 after a battle with COVID-19. LeRoy was a lifelong resident of the area. An avid hunter, he went bear hunting in Minnesota, Pheasant hunting in New York and Kansas, deep sea fishing in Louisiana. He annually traveled to Colorado for Elk hunting and the Ouachita Mountains in southern Oklahoma for turkey hunting. He also enjoyed classic cars, gun and knife shows and traveling with his family. He was a loving family man and will be sadly missed by many. He was preceded in death by his mother Geraldine (Bearskin) Stovall, 3 sisters, Susie Nuckols, Edie Bowers, and Trudy White, 2 brothers Tom Stovall and Jimbo Stovall, a nephew, 2 nieces and an infant son. Left to cherish his memory; his wife of 55 years Sharon Howard of the home, daughter Roni Grimmett and her husband Kelly of Vinita, son LeRoy Howard Jr. and wife Amy of Vinita, daughter Stacie King and husband Shawn of Miami; 14 grandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren; one brother Leslie (Mutt) Howard of Wyandotte, seven sisters, Carol Hammond of Joplin, Missouri, Shine Carson, Tulsa, Laurie Heffleman and Deana Mersman of Grove, Neasy Garwood, George Ann Stovall and Donna Francis of Miami and many loved nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Grove Christian Center with Pastor David Knox officiating. Charlie Diebold will honor Mr. Howard with Native American rites on Wednesday December 23, 2020 at Bassett Grove Cemetery. All under the direction of Nichols-Stephens Funeral & Cremation Services, Grove, Oklahoma.
