Jane Ann Dougan
October 18, 1947 - April 14, 2021
Jane A. Dougan was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world on April 14, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 73. Jane was born to Donald and Wanda (Lybarger) Elder in Coffeyville, KS on October 18, 1947. She graduated from Altamont High School, Class of 1965 and moved to Tulsa to attend cosmetology school. In 1984 Jane married the love of her life, Daniel R. Dougan; he convinced her to help work the land on his ‘farmette.’ This decision she quickly regretted when, while working nights at the refinery, he left her and a friend to birth pigs – alone. She then opened a local beauty shop, Janie’s Family Hair Styling, and took to curling and setting her clients with care. Her longest, and lowest tipping client, was her adored husband. She even managed to remedy his pin straight hair with a ‘body perm,’ very popular in the mid-eighties. Jane and Dan then worked side by side to build a thriving plumbing business, Triple D Plumbing. Dan often lamented that he could never have hired anyone as loyal and supportive as his cherished wife; a service for which he is forever grateful. Upon retirement in 2017, Jane and Dan, relocated to Grove, OK. The couple had spent the better part of the previous four decades entertaining their children, family, and friends for countless hours on Grand Lake. Jane loved to provide home cooked meals for any and all who entered her home. She would spend days preparing no less than three times the needed amount of food and constantly fretting there wouldn’t be enough. Jane was a faithful servant of the Lord and a member of both the Church of the Shepherd, Grove, OK and Dearing Christian Church, Dearing, KS. Jane is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elaine Russell. Left to celebrate her life are her husband of 37 years, Daniel Dougan. Children: Josh Dougan (Ashley) of Coffeyville, KS, Sarah James of Kansas City, MO, Harmony Lee (Jason) of Tulsa, OK and Thomas Dougan (Carey) of Montague, MA. Siblings: Deanna Fain (Don), Patty Chinsethagid (Matee) and Lisa Elder all of Tulsa, OK; Steve Elder (Becky) of Coffeyville, KS. Her greatest joys in life were her 11 grandchildren: Tylar Dougan, Easton Dougan, Makenna Walker, Eve Dougan, Jaxon Sprague, Benaiah Dougan, Marnie Lee, Hayes James, Oliver Lee, Campbell Walker and Sawyer James. Jane was an esteemed aunt to many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, April 19, 2021. Visitation will be Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 2-4 PM and Monday, April 19, 2021 from 10-11 AM at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Chapel. Arrangements entrusted to Nichols Stephens Funeral & Cremation Services.
