Wilma J. Christman

Wilma J. Christman, 83, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Grove, Oklahoma. Born on January 6, 1942, in Keokee, Virginia, to Olan Parsons and Lois Carrole, she lived a life marked by dedication, community service, and a deep love for those around her. Wilma graduated from Keokee High School in Virginia and later continued her education at Independence Community College. Her professional journey spanned nearly four decades at Automotive Control Corporation in Independence, Kansas. As a foreman there for 38 years, she not only built a respected career but also met her husband—an enduring partnership that began within the walls of her workplace. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Wilma was deeply involved in her community. She was an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary Association of Monkey Island and volunteered regularly at Lake Center Baptist Church, where she was also a member. Her commitment to service extended to the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star, organizations through which she gave generously of her time and spirit. Those who knew Wilma remember her as truly one of a kind. She never met a stranger and carried herself with grace and style that left a lasting impression. Her warmth and elegance were matched only by her unwavering love for her family. Wilma’s legacy is one of strength, kindness, and connection—a life well-lived in service to others and filled with meaningful relationships. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, son, Richard Sargent and siblings, Buford Parsons, Marvin Parsons, Della Mae Parsons, Arnetta Parsons, Jerry Parsons, Rhonda Parsons,Reta Parsons and Thelma Parsons. Left to cherish her memory, husband of 34 years, Dan Christman, grandchildren: Carrie Cizek and husband, Chris and Joshua Sargent, of Monkey Island, Kaitlyn Sargent of Royse City, TX and Tasha Sargent of Chicago, Illinois; sisters, Gloria, Shirley and Rhonda; brothers David Parsons and Clyde Parsons and one great grandson, Conner Mathia. Visitation will be from 5pm -7pm Wednesday, July 2, and funeral services will be at 11am Thursday, July 3, 2025, both at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Chapel, followed by burial at Rolston Cemetery. The family request that donations be made in Wilma’s memory to the American Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation.
