Vera Lee Mann

Vera Lee Mann, 87, of Grove, Oklahoma, left her life here to join her Savior, Jesus Christ, at her home surrounded by her loving family on May 6, 2018. Vera Lee had lived in Grove for the past 40 years. She was married to Curtis B. Mann of Tulsa who passed away in 1995. Vera Lee carried the Joplin Globe in Grove and surrounding areas for approximately 20 years. She raised rabbits for Pel-Freez, chickens for Simmons, goats for the USA government to send overseas and cattle. She was an avid and champion golfer and tennis player. Vera Lee filled her home with music and was able to play multiple instruments: piano, organ, guitar, banjo, ukulele, harmonica, clarinet, and steel guitar. She could paint, sew, make pottery, beat everyone on video games, and sing among other talents. She loved gadgets and tools and could fix or attempt to fix anything. If she could not find what she needed, she built it. She had a passion for animals and she showed love to them all. She was successful in all she attempted. Vera Lee led her family by living an honorable life and leaves behind a legacy many can strive to achieve. She was preceded in death by her parents: Dr. James M. and Vera Loretta Harris, and her brothers: Clarence Ganders, Arthur, Raymond, Jimmy, Bobby and Tommy Harris and 3 sisters: Irene, Hazel, and Myrtle one granddaughter, and a great grandson. Vera Lee is survived by her 3 daughters: Susan Moody, Nancy Hamilton, and Patty (Don) Smith, all of Grove; 8 grandchildren: Michelle Sams, Annette Lewis, Mike Sams (Beth), Jennifer (Anthony) Adkins, Jessica (Daniel) Tulsa, Samantha (Tony) Young, Kelon (Courtney) Smith, Sophie Smith (Larry); 16 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and others who called her grandma, many of whom she enjoyed until her passing. The family wishes to acknowledge the following: Dr. K. Schauf’s office, Good Shepherd Hospice: Janell Brixey and Teresa Noble, as well as all staff members for not only their time, consideration, patience, but also the amazing love shown to mother and the family members who cared for her. There are not enough words to thank Janell and Teresa for loving mother, making her smile, treating her with such dignity and respect. Not only how you treated mother, the way you cared for each one of us here on a daily basis taking care of her. You became much more than the agency you represented. You became part of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be announced soon.
