Ruby M. Martin

Ruby M. Martin, aged 101, of Grove, Oklahoma, joined her loved ones in Heaven on July 31, 2026. Born on April 27, 1925, in Southwest City, Missouri, Ruby's life was marked by her spirited character and hospitality. Ruby was known for her ornery yet loving personality. She had an open-door policy at her home, always ready to feed anyone who walked through her door, greeting everyone with a hug, coffee and cookies. She attended Butler School during her early years, setting the stage for her lifelong resilience and work ethic. Ruby began working as a waitress at the Star Cafe, a job that saw her bringing smiles to the faces of patrons with her service and quick wit. She later worked for Simmons Chicken Processing in Noel, Missouri. During this time, Ruby and her husband also ran the family farm. Despite undergoing a risky brain surgery in 1970 that resulted in partial facial paralysis, Ruby's spirit remained unshaken, and she continued to live her life with determination and joy. Ruby's Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life and she read the Bible every day, drawing strength during difficult times. Her faith guided her actions and was evident in the way she lived her life and cared for people. In her leisure time, Ruby was a seamstress and quilter, skills that she used to create beautiful, handcrafted items for her friends and family. Her love for baking was well known, often preparing meals that brought everyone together. Ruby leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, touching the lives of many who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to feel her warmth and kindness. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Martin, son, Dennie Martin, granddaughter, Paige Martin, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and 3 infant children. Left to cherish Ruby’s memory, son, Jimmie “Weed” Martin and wife, Tami, daughter-in-law, Judy Martin, grandchildren: Todd Martin (Sandra), Wendy Mauldin (Clay), Natasha Hollenback (Jimmie); great grandchildren: Payton, Dylan, Riley, Logan, Max and Keely and many bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren; dear friends, Darrel and Carol Robertson, George and Teresa Spurling. A special thanks to Ruby’s hospice nurse, Christina Roberts with Good Shepherd Hospice and the staff of Grand Lake Vila. A visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7pm Friday, August 7, 2026, at Nichols Stephens Funeral Service. Burial will be at Polson Cemetery at a later date.
