L. "Dean" Bale

L. “Dean” Bale, age 90, of Jay, OK went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Grove Nursing Center. Dean was born on January 21, 1928 to John and Sylvia (Bonham) Bale in Dewey, Ok, where he grew up and graduated from high school. Following high school, Dean joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for 2 years. On February 17, 1948 Dean married Evelyn Burks, in Seattle, WA, where the couple made their home and Dean was employed at Boeing Co. He was later transferred with Boeing to Wichita, KS. Dean left the aviation industry and moved his family to Commerce, OK and began selling insurance with National Life & Accident Co. Later, he moved to Dallas, TX and began a career in the mortgage business. In the late 1990’s Dean and his wife, Evelyn, moved to Grove from Dallas, TX, and formed his own business “Dean’s Cargo & Rigging Co.” which he successfully operated until 2016. Dean was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Southwest City and a representative for The Gideon’s International distributing Bibles and speaking on their behalf in churches within the Delaware and Ottawa Counties. Dean had a passion for music and loved to share God’s word in song. He blessed many people with his beautiful voice for which he will fondly be remembered. Dean was a member of the Lion’s Club Int’l, Kiwanis, loved to garden and bird watch. He was preceded in death by: Evelyn “Jean” Bale in 2011, two sisters, Dorothy Hansen and Judy Bale and one brother, JT Bale. Surviving are his children: Susanna Adams & husband, Paul, of Wyandotte, Ok, Carmen Couch of Tulsa, OK, Debbie Cobb & husband, Allen, of Tuttle, OK, Dana Hartley & husband, Mike, of Carthage, MO, Steven “Skeeter” Bale & wife Susie of Jay, OK and Debra Bale of Richardson, TX; 2 brothers, Clifford Bale of Coffeyville, KS and Larry Bale of Bartlesville, OK, 17 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Dean’s Life will be held at 2pm Friday, January 11, 2019 at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Chapel. Bro. Joe Nowlin to officiate. A private family burial will be held at Butler Cemetery.
