Hubert R Moore

Hubert R. Moore, age 72, of Grove, Oklahoma, affectionately known to his friends as 'Hotshot', passed from this life on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin Missouri. He was born on December 29, 1947 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Hubert and Violet (Howard) Moore. Hubert went to school in Rockford, Illinois. He entered the United States Army in 1966 and proudly served his country in Viet Nam. He became a Sergeant E5 Drill Instructor at Ft. Polk, Louisiana before leaving the military in 1969. He received a Marksman Service Medal as well as a Viet Nam Service Medal. He married Brenda Dailey in 1990 in Keeler, Michigan where they made their home until moving to the Grand Lake area in 1993. He was a Ham Radio enthusiast and enjoyed going fishing in his leisure time. One of his favorite pastimes was working on his granddaughter Alexis’ truck. Honing his skills in target practice was also an activity he enjoyed. Hubert was a proud member of the Grove Veteran’s Ritual Team and a member of the American Legion Post 178 in Grove, where he previously served as Chaplain. He was honored to be a member of Midway Missionary Baptist Church of Fairland, Oklahoma. Hubert had a heart of gold and was loved by all that knew him. His quick humor, ornery grin and larger than life personality will be just a few things remembered by those left behind. Hubert is preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his loving wife Brenda ; daughters Ginger and Mike Imler of Dover, Arkansas; Amy and Floyd Wethey of Bluejacket, Oklahoma; Noma Moore of Decater, Michigan and Melissa Moore of Grove, Oklahoma; and son George Moore of Bartol, Florida; Brothers Ronnie and Cathey Moore of Grove, Oklahoma and Tony and Barbara Moore of Miami, Oklahoma and Sister Audrey and Steve Brewer of Grove, Oklahoma; Eight grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, as well as a host of friends! A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Chapel in Grove, Oklahoma. There will be a visitation for family and friends following the service at Nichols-Stephens Reception Room. Midway Missionary Baptist Church of Fairland, Oklahoma will provide finger foods.
