Homer "George" Hutchison

Homer "George" Hutchison, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 24, 2026, in Grove, Oklahoma, after a long battle with cancer. George was born July 18, 1941 in South Fork, Missouri to Francis and Dorothy Elberta (Wright) Hutchison. George grew up in Benton, Kansas and graduated from Benton High School. He married his high school sweetheart Peggy Hladik in 1961. They made their home in Wichita and moved to their lake home outside of Grove in 2008. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this fall. He was a devoted father of two children, Greg and Lisa. He was also a very proud grandpa to Rylee, Colby, Matthew and Lane. He was a welder by trade and owner of a welding and machine shop in Wichita, Kansas that manufactured parts for the aircraft industry and US military. He retired from Bombardier Learjet Wichita as a CNC Programer in 2007. George loved hunting and fishing and was passionate about hunter safety and taught Hunter's Safety classes to young people for over 20 years. He was an avid archer. He loved making furniture and was a self taught wood turner making many beautiful pieces for family and friends. He was a member of Elk River Baptist Church. He most enjoyed Sunday School classes where he could fellowship and learn with others and grow his faith. George is survived by his loving wife Peggy; his son, Greg (Pam) Hutchison of Broken Arrow, OK; his daughter, Lisa (John) Anderson of Seneca, IL; grandchildren, Rylee (Brian) Lacina of Milwaukee, WI; Colby Hutchison of Broken Arrow, OK; Matthew Anderson of Glendale, WI; Lane Hutchison of Broken Arrow, OK; his brothers, James (Betty) Hutchison of Wichita, KS; Larry (Joy) Hutchison of Grove, OK; his sister in law Carolyn (Marion) Rowland of Newton, KS and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceeded in death by his parents Francis and Dorothy Elberta Hutchison; his father in law and mother in law Fred and Margaret Hladik; and brother in law Marvin Henry. George's life was marked by his faith, dedication to family, his work and his community leaving a legacy of perseverance and integrity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Elk River Baptist Church Children and Youth Camp Tuition or the Food Pantry of Grove. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at Olympus Cemetery North.
