Eva "Jeanene" Buchanan

Eva ‘Jeanene’ Buchanan, age 86, passed away at her home in Grove, Oklahoma on Monday, October 9, 2023. Jeanene was born, one of 9 children, in Osawatomie, Kansas, on November 2, 1936, to Pierce and Mae (Burnham) Miller. She graduated from Osawatomie High School with the class of 1954. She was employed by the General Service Administration in Kansas City. She was a member of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) in Topeka. Jeanene married Charles O. Buchanan on August 3, 1968, in Topeka, Kansas. The couple moved to the Grand Lake area in 2014. Family was of utmost importance to Jeanene, and she greatly enjoyed times spent with them. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved them dearly. She thoroughly enjoyed being the greatest ’Nene’ to them. As an enthusiastic sports fan, she was dedicated to the K.U. Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed cheering them on. Her dry sense of humor was continually a delight to all who had the pleasure to be in her presence. She was a devoted wife and mother who lived life to the fullest. Jeanene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 7 siblings. Left to cherish her memory, her 3 daughters; Barb (Don) Holcomb of Topeka, Kansas, Vickie (Ron) Fuller of Grove, Oklahoma and Rhonda (Mike McGuire) Cassidy of Topeka, Kansas; sister Shirley McNickle of Prairie Village, Kansas her best friend since 2nd grade, Shirley Law of Osawatomie, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, Eric Holcomb of Lawrence, Kansas, Mark (Hillary) Holcomb of Bloomington, Illinois, Ian Fuller of Grove, Oklahoma Joseph (Beth) Fuller of Oswego, Kansas, Betsy (Josh) Anderson of Carthage, Missouri, Brandon (Ali) Alexander of Mound City, Kansas, and Dalton (Morgan) Alexander of Wakarusa, Kansas; and 10 great grandchildren, Alex Fuller, Kross, Orrin, Hawke and Stone Fuller, Graham, Bryce and Elise Holcomb, Wagers Alexander and Truman Anderson and many loving nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation for Jeanene beginning at 12 noon on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, followed by her funeral at 2pm. A light lunch will be served immediately following the service, all at Nichols-Stephens Funeral & Cremation Services, 10201 US Hwy 59, Grove, Oklahoma. Burial will be in Beagle Cemetery in Beagle, Kansas at a later date. Special thanks to Comforting Hands Hospice for their special care. Her in-home caregivers, Danielle Soldier, Candi Dunaway, Stephanie Jontra, and Delaine Sanders, for loving her like family. The family requests donations in Jeanene's memory be made to Comforting Hands Hospice or Daughters of the American Revolution.
